All the blue background are wallet sized photos that I took around the house. The "snow flakes" are sewing pins with beads on them poked into a cork with glitter paint over it. The bottom is just a few scraps of white cardboard with glitter and beads. Would you consider it "art"?

Of course it's 'Art' and part of the tradition of the assemblage.
You are good company with the likes of Joseph Cornell and Kurt Schwitters.

Yes, its art. Whether its good or not is something entirely different. (There is good art and bad art). That I can't tell just from the pictures, especially with this sort of thing. I would have to see it in person. But it looks interesting.

If you say it's art, then it's art.

If you can turn it on its side or upside down and someone looking at it for the first time, doesnt know that it is turned wrong, then it is NOT art. IMHO. | | | |

IMHO. | True Story! When all of the S+L's were going under a dozen or so years ago an auction house was hired to liquidate some large art collections that were assembled by one particular S+L. Well in the lobby of basically the largest Branch/Headquarters office there was this huge woven peace of art so the auctioneers in doing their due dilligance found out who the artist was and contacted them to find out how to take the piece down without damaging it. So the artist gave them a quote for him to come out and supervise a crew with high lift equipment to take the piece down and to inspect it and if necessary determine if any repairs would need to be made. The original price of the piece was in the 6 figure range. Well the artist shows up and finds that they had hung the piece upside down! It had been that way for around 10 years! Well the piece came down and was inspected and found in good shape, if memory serves me right it sold for under $20,000 this after a $3,000+ bill to just take it down off the wall.
Don't know if the group is still around but there used to be a group of artists in the area called the Good Art Bad Art Collective, there also is another around right now called The Art Prostitute.

If you put your own creativity into it then it's art, no matter what anyone else thinks about it. But it is good, I like it.

Several years ago I photographed a Water Lily looking almost straight down into the pond. I printed it as a horizontal and entered it into a competition. The first time it came up it was turned vertical and it scored a 78. The print handlers noticed their error and brought it back up as a horizontal and it scored an 81. Someone thought it was art to score it so high.
