Relocation to DFW area - 11-29-2006, 05:49 PM

I was talking to the mother of one of my grandson's schoolmates, and she told me her husband has accepted a position with a hospital in Denton. They are going to be looking for housing, and are thinking about Argyle, Coppel and Flower Mound. Which are the neighborhoods to look for?

Why not look at Denton itself? There are some great newer neighborhoods if that is what they are looking for or they can find older sections if they want an older home.

JUST WATCH OUT FOR THE Neighborhood Associations that some of the newer developments are, they pretty much have free rein at being nazi's over the people if they want to in Texas.

Take a look at Oak Mount in Denton right across 1-35 from the Regional Hospital and very nice homes. We lived there for 17 years.

That's where he will be working, with an office in town. Thanks.

I live in Denton (although I am moving this weekend ). Denton is a growing town, and the crime rate is steadily on the rise. Overall, it's a great place to live.

Farmers Branch is my new favorite city!

I cant stand the city of Denton and yeah the crime rate is pretty high, Flower Mound is rather nice though. I've lived in that area almost since I was 2 and I would NEVER recommend to anyone to live in Denton (I lived there for 4 years), its a city that is about 15 years behind the times imo. Flower Mound is very nice, has a lot of families, some very nice homes, and a good homey feel to it. If I was shopping for a home anywhere on the north side of Dallas it would be one of the top places I would look. There are also some very nice neighborhoods out in the middle of nowhere like Argyle though, but its just kinda...out there, there isn't much to do, no nearby malls etc. The Corinth area is also growing up really nicely and would be another place to look. It kinda splits the difference between Denton and Flower Mound but the cops in Highland Village (next to Corinth) are HORRENDOUS and living near there might impact insurance rates
