As I am sitting here typing this, I am looking out my window and see that most of the snow and ice has melted, except for maybe a few patches hidden in shadows. A friend sent me an email today reminding me that today is World Aids Day. The link below is from CNN about one man's fight against this terrible disease and his struggle to help those in need.

I hope we get some more snow before the spring- maybe just one more time, if we are lucky. For some of us, it seems to bring out the long, lost childlike wonders of life.

Alex, I really like the way you presented those photos. Really cool looking. Pun intended.

I escaped! - 12-03-2006, 07:34 AM

Went to Carrrabelle Florida with a friedn who was buying a Grady White 28 Marlin. We escaped the cold until we stopped in Mobile for dinner Friday night. It was 70°, cloudy and misting Friday AM when I took this picture of his boat. We had intended to tow it back, but fortunately he hired a local dealer to do that.

Wow, that is a nice boat. Exactly where is Carrabelle? I lived in Florida many years ago.

84 miles down the coast from Panama City. The boat is 10.5' wide and about 10K #. I would help this guy bury the body, but I was not looking forward to towing that beast back.

What I did in the cold today - 12-08-2006, 06:03 PM

In spite of the tragic accident on !-10 this AM, the driver finally got Chuck's boat to Hillman's Marine in Dickenson. As the crew prepared to sling the boat from the driver's trailer to Chuck's, they discovered a problem with the hydraulics on their sling. While they repaired the unit, we went to Clifton's By The Sea for lunch. This is one of the shots I took of the operation.

Wow, Alan, I don't blame you for not wanting to haul that thing. Great shot and it sure is a big boat.

It SNOWED today in Utopia and Vanderpool (near Lost Maples). Around noon we had a good snow fall.... but it was melting as fast as it hit the ground.

I just stayed in drinking hot chocolate (with schnops) and worked on photo processing and filing.
