One of the really great photojournalists of our generation has passed. I found this tribute on the Magnum website. I am not sure exactly when he died, but I believe it was yesterday. Maybe somone out here has more details.

He was a pure street shooter and his shots of the streets of New York City in the 50's and 60's is some of the best documentary photography you can find.

Out of all the Magnum photographers I always thought he was the most underrated.

When I first got into photography back in the 60's, I studied his work and he was a true inspiration. He always brought a sense of humour to his work and that is so hard to do sometimes.

Thanks, Rick would have missed this. I've sent the link to a couple of Phojo's who know who Freed is and I'm sure haven't heard.
