my wife is a teacher and they are NOT supposed to touch any student in any fashion, and the students are not supposed to touch the teachers. some of my wifes students come from families where the children do not get love and support from their parents. some of my wifes students will try to hug her just because they are glad to be in her class room. Or my wife said their art project was really nice. My wife said its really hard to ignore a hug from a Kinder to 3 grade student, but she HAS to push them away kindly.

Its pretty sad but not much we can do when there are a few bad apples out there causing problems.

I understand such policies are meant to protect teachers from accusations of wrongdoing (and I think it's a sad commentary on the state of our society). But in this case it is 4-year old child that is being accused of sexual harrassment, not the teacher. That's just idiotic.

I'm absolutely dumb-founded that any adult with supposedly training in primary education could even think that a 4 year-old could comprehend "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment."

FWIW, my cousin's wife and my mother are both teachers...I've seen both hug students/receive hugs. I dont know if their districts have any rules about such but I think some rules are worth breaking.
