Which papers do you use.

I'm going to use them to print a bunch of wedding stuff for my Aunt....long story short, the photog. they hired was not good, and thank goodness I was there shooting for "fun" (backup).

Anyways...they want about 70-80 shots of mine for what will be their wedding album.

So...matte, lustre finish, metallic. What's the general consensus.

I'm fairly new to this, so take my opinion with a grain of salt! I really like the lustre paper -- printed photos from my cousin's wedding on the lustre and really liked it. The metallic paper is way cool, but not suitable for every photograph. I'm working on getting those shots, where I can say I've got to go print this on the metallic paper...

I bet some of your sports shots would look great on the metallic paper...just a thought...

I have a few big prints that I've done with other companies....but haven't used MPIX for the big stuff.

I should...and I do have a few good ones that would make a good 16x20 or so.

Have you sent off for their free 'paper samples'? They give you the same image on all three of the papers they use for normal size prints.

The standard e-surface paper is probably the way to go. It's a standard for a reason. The metallic works great for certain images, but I can't see doing a whole wedding in it.

Yea, I am a fan of their e-surface especially for portraits. They do an outstanding job and are very fast at shipping....

If it's the same paper that Miller's uses for their regular lab services lustre is the best choice for weddings. I rarely use a matte paper for anything (too dull and flat looking), and the metallic is one of those papers that makes THE RIGHT image SING, but tends to be over used, and often on the wrong images. Have fun!

Good point about sending off for their paper sample. I'll have to do that for some other things I'll be shooting this year.

I'm fairly partial to a matte surface for just about everything.

This sort of applies to the discussion so I will ask here: What the heck is the difference between regular e-surface and e-surface with lustre finish? I'm going to stop paying extra for it. I just ordered 2 5x7, one with lustre for a customer and one without for me, and I don't see a difference at all.

I have been using the metallic paper for all of my enlarged wildlife and landscape shots. Love it but it would not be the best for weddings.

I second that. Love the metalliz paper for nature/landscapes, but probably wouldn't use it for many portraits. Mabe you would want to use it rarely on a portrait where you really wanted to emphasize bright color, or liveliness or action?
