Lake Tahoe lodging - 12-13-2006, 09:50 PM

Anyone here have some recommendations for ski resorts at Lake Tahoe? I would like some sort of lodge pretty close (walking distance) to ski areas. I've never been, so don't really know what kind of accomodations are available. Thanks

We always stay at Harveys which is now owned by Harrahs which is next door. There is also Ceasers Palace. The big hotels are all close together on the Nevada side. You can walk only a couple of blocks and catch the gondola to go skiing at Heavenly Ski Resort. Once you are up there you can ski the Nevada side and the California side. If you are a beginner skiier and like the easier green runs, consider taking the bus to the Sierra resort. You can go to top and ski a green run called Sugar and Spice which is an easy run. I always like to catch some of the shows at the different hotels. Last time there we saw Carrot Top. Cant remember the last time I had laughed that hard. The guy is crazy.

On the North side of the lake:

Northstar-at-Tahoe has some accomodations right on the runs. Ski down to the lift. Ski back home when you're done. More in the village.

Squaw Valley has a hotel and condos at the base in easy walking distance from the lifts.

I second all of this. I just came from Tahoe in October and stayed here :

Behind it is the lake:

and in front of it is the Gondola lift for Heavenly Ski Resort.

this is their site

You'll LOVE it here!

You can walk to just about everything there and its only 1.5 miles from the stateline if you'd like to gamble too.

Thanks alot, everyone. Looks like the trip may be off. I'm having a hard time finding any openings. This was a last minute, tag along on my wife's business trip over the New Year's holiday, so there's no availibility. We may be able to go at a later date, though, so I will keep these places in mind. Again, thanks for the information.

Are you sure? Because I promise you'll find something! Even we waited till the last minute to book and we found a suite that sleeps 8!
