Help! I have to make a decision on this today...

My first book (http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36055) is at press and will be delivered next week! ...40 page, 11x11 hard cover, limited edition of 200, numbered and signed. My dilemma... Paul (DEMDeepEllumMusic) had a suggestion that I'm thinking I'll run with, but since it'll actually "change" the book I wanted to get the opinion of my friends. He suggested I add an actual print (with archival adhesive) to the fly page and then number and sign underneath it. The would be something like an artist remarque I guess. The image would be something that's not printed on the pages of the book, with the book title added in some way.) It'll be roughly 4x6 I think. I'll add it to this thread once I get out to the studio and create it. Means having to order and adhere 200 prints, so before I do... Your opinions please!

Oh... I should add that there is no title page, just cover, blank fly page and the next is an image page... this one as a matter of fact...

Fran I would love to give you a quick opinion but I dont think I understand anything you just said. LOL you're going to add a 4x6 something inside the book to sign and #?? as opposed to what? just numbering one and signing something already in the book?

I think that would be pretty cool......but not really necessary.
People are all ready getting a limited edition, numbered and signed book. That alone is worth way more then the price.

Paul suggested that I add an actual print to the fly page and then sign and number the book below that print. This would be something like a remarque an artist would add... you know... where they paint/sketch another little related piece of art to the matte by their signature. (Example- I have a limited edition print of flying geese, the artist painted one more little flying goose on the matte near his signature.) Paul (who seems to know this stuff) suggested it would add some uniqueness to the book, and possibly add some value. (Future value would only result if I stumbled into fame, and then only upon my death! )

That's why I'm asking. I'd have to get it created and order them today so I've got them in time to add to the book, which already be promised to about 50 people before Christmas! I don't want to do it if the "population" (that would be you TPFers) thinks it's overdone or cheesy or something!

My vote is for I think that'd be pretty cool. let me know if you want to have a mounting party.

EDIT -- I am not sure that TPF'ers ever think something is overdone. I think we're all a bit over the top...some more than others, but I think we're all pretty close to the top at least. lol

Extra work, and extra expense...
But it sounds like a nice extra personal touch!

I like the 2nd one better, I like the gritty texture feel to it.

Thanks Heather.

Remember, I'm not needing so much an opinion on which one, but whether or not to add it to the book.

Just something to think about.
A way to make your special limited edition book more special.
Only add it to the first 100 of them.
