Don't know how many Opera fans are here but I'm one.

This shows why opera is so wonderful and La Scala is such a hard house.

· Opera star abruptly quits stage - and production
· Jeans-clad understudy steps in and wins ovation

For details see this.

It's funny. I've been to the Opera in Verona, and the audience was the most knowledgable, and still the warmest that I've ever seen. I guess a few hundred miles makes a big difference there. Also the Verona summer opera gets some help from being staged outdoors in a Roman Ampitheatre, with amazing acoustics. We saw Turandot there with Jose Cura, and also Carmen. Absolutely fantastic nights all around, with a truly appreciative crowd.

Here in Houston, I get the feeling that about 1/2 to 3/4 of the house are coming as a sense of duty, and they deliver their standing ovations with the same dutiful air of enthusiasm. It's too bad, because there are some very good shows here.

I don't like opera but i like the song by Lucia di Lammermoor that was played in the 5th element by actor Maiwenn Le Besco

So...any videos of him singing and the understudy taking over?

Props to the man in black. That would be seriously tough to walk onto stage like that.

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.
