How Do You....Dvd Slideshow - 12-15-2006, 07:06 PM

Just curious how people are creating a photo dvd slideshow, not sure where to start I have had a few people ask for them, and I would like to be able to do full quality and proof dvds, but with the full quality one encrypted into the slideshow or something so that they can't just get to the pics

Thanks for any help

I've heard that Adobe Premier (or Premier Elements) is pretty good for creating Photo DVD slideshows. One of my coworker's buddies up in Killeen does weddings and uses it to create a photo DVD for his clients. I've not used it before, even though I've had it for a year now... I guess I'll be trying that out soon.

Basically any software that will allow you to create an mpeg movie out of photos will work. Once it's in mpeg format, most DVD burning software will allow you to burn it in DVD format (mpeg2).

I use Pinnacle software to do it. Its easy to use and fast. I had purchased it for a college project and just never stopped using it...(for those of you that are laughing at me).

I thought it was good entry software...

Edit: I have no idea what version Im using...People seem to be wanting to copy stuff with version 10. Since Im creating, I dont have any complaints. If you want to start a bootlegging shop, this isnt your software...To make basic wedding DVDs or what have you - this works great.

Edit: Swish is also a good way to go - no one can copy the images - they cant even get at them.

PhotoStory is great and they wouldn't be able to print any of the pictures. You can actually download it for free.

Here is a link to a series I did for my daughter, if you want to get an idea of what it is like. It was oriniginally all one slideshow, but I had to break it into three to upload it to the site. (Of course, it now will hold up to 10 minute long videos, but I haven't redone them yet.) I wanted it to be available to all of my family immediately. I will burn copies for everyone, but I want to wait and send them out on her first birthday.

This may not be what you are looking for, but free is always good IMO!!!

The best one I've found is Proshow Producer by Photodex. You can have up to 100 layers in one slide, each layer can have it's own transition effects, it supports masking, vignetting effects for borders, etc. It is super easy to use and will export to lots of different formats, for HD, web, DVD, PC Auto run, Flash, etc. Go to http://www.photodex.com to download a trial copy. You'll love it!

The new release (3.0) has some really cool upgrades to it. I just downloaded it yesterday.

Pinnacle was a good program that has turned in to a buggy/system crashing pile of junk. I have several copies and have witnessed it's decline.

If I were buying video software today, I would give Premier Elements a serious look. If you already have Pinnacle and it is working for you I wouldn't bother looking at anything else until you need to upgrade anyway.
