The best think you can do is carry a copy of Krag's Photographer's Rights and hand them out.

Mr Krag's paper hasn't been of too much help in the one instance I know of where it was handed out. he guy still was carted off downtown, camera temporarily confiscated, and all sorts of other nastiness.

Some printed piece of paper carries about as much weight with a "cop-on-a-mission" (real or rental) as a stop sign to most drivers in Houston.....

If they took his camera, I would hope he has filled both crime and civil cases. Until people are willing to take them to court, it's not going to change.
