La Borde House in Rio Grande City? - 12-20-2006, 04:43 PM

Has any one ever stayed there or know if it is still in operation? I may have to go over spring break to Rio Grande City to photograph and document the grave of Alexander Manford Headley for my Civil War book and visit Robert E. Lee's home there.

I can't find any current information on the web about but maybe we a TPF'er in that part of the state.

If only you had asked a day or two ago while I was working in Edinburg, Harlingen, Brownsville and Port Isabel. I just left that area around noon.

My wife knows of the place but thinks it may not be operational. We haven't been down that way for while though. I live around 45min drive from there, I'll MAYBE try to head over and see what I can find out, hopefully within the week. (You know how the holiday stuff tends to bog you down with busy work.) The downtown buildings in Rio Grande city are kind of cool, different styles. They're pretty run down though.

I'll PM you.

Just looked at your link, currently the city doesn't look ANYTHING like the pic of the La Borde house, for one, the road is now paved, LOL.
