I HATE thieves!!! - 12-21-2006, 08:24 AM

Almost one year to the day of me purchasing my DReb XT, it was stolen this past weekend. I'm to blame for carrying a bunch of bags up to the hotel room and not locking the truck in between trips.

It's really not even the money lost that pisses me off the most. It's the fact that when I see something I want to shoot.............I can't.

I was just going to order the 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 on Monday. Now it looks like I'll be in need of a new camera, and the lenses will go on hold yet again.

I REALLY hate theives!!!!!!

Bee, we all hate thieves... A story on the news last evening told of a local church that had its bell stolen, presumably for the copper content (good bells are usually bronze, not copper). That's even lower than the usual thief... Apparently, the local fire department heard of the incident and replaced the bell but still, it leaves a bad feeling in one's gut to know that these people are out running around and will probably never be caught.
Sorry to hear of your loss, especially during prime picture taking season...

That sucks. I hope I never come home to find my equipment gone, because it would be a long, long time before I could replace any of it.

that is my worst fear, along with being robbed on the street when i shoot alone at night. i decided a long time ago i would beat someone with my camera before i would hand it over. and i keep my tripod out when i walk in case i have to beat someone in an alley with it. after i move to pa i will probably get a concealed carry license for the late night shoots in philly, ny, etc. i grew up in that area and know how easy it is to get lost and end up somewhere "undesirable." but that won't stop me from shooting. NOTHING WILL! ahahahhhah! (except getting my camera stolen - DOH!)

that sucks so bad, man, i'm sorry. do you have the id#? you can at least check all the local pawn shops.

Michelle, you should get a 1D series body and a 70-200 f/2.8L. Then your camera will be sturdy enough to withstand a good beating.

Tis the season.

Someone stole my music minister's two guitars on Monday. Of course as a young artist with 4 young kids, he is up a creek without it.

That's one of the reasons I added my equipment to my home owner's insurance.... it's now covered so someone "walk" off with it. The insurance is worth the piece of mind.

Thanks for the support guys and gals. I knew you all would feel my pain. I did learn a valuable lesson. I will be looking into getting my next camera insured as well. You never think it can happen to you.

Now I have to decide if should get the new 400D or go ahead and spend the money for the 30D. Not that I want to spend the money for either at this point.

FYI, I bought my husband an extremely expensive guitar, so expensive in fact I checked with our insurance before I bought it!!! They said it would be covered under our auto insurance if it was in the car and got stolen or if the car was wrecked....It might be different for us because the same company insures our house and cars..but it is worth checking if you haven't already. Good luck
