Pay it Forward - Rangefinder Nov 2006 Article

So I'm sitting here, trying to find something to do other than clean for the family coming over Christmas Eve and decided I have a couple rangefinders sitting here calling my name to be read. So I flip it open to the middle and read the Pay it Forward article.

My mother in law battled breast cancer a couple years ago and there is a network that she got in touch with that was able to help her be taken care of. She had lost her job shortly before she found out, my father in law had also lost his job shortly after. She had surgery days before christmas. This network took the worry and stress from her and the family by providing her with help.

So really my question is how do you go about setting up fundraising for a charity of your choosing? or any thoughts on the article.

A good friend of mine started an annual 5k race at Whiterock in Dallas. He calls it the fatman 5k and all of the proceeds go to charity. Last I heard it was up to a couple hundreed participants. I dont know what Tax Laws apply, but it has raised some funds and provided fun for all.
