So that's where they all went. I used to see them all the time as a kid and now I rarely ever see them. I don't have a decent photo either.

Depends on what you think is a decent photo. I have a number in my Roadkill gallery.

WARNING ROADKILL HAS GRAPHIC IMAGES OF DEAD ANIMALS. IT IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.

John, Oh yeah, I've been there. It's an icky but interesting collection. I guess if somebody had to do it, I'm glad it wasn't me.

We have live armadillos every few nights in our yard during the summer. At least the don't eat the outdoor cat's food like the possums do.

Didn't you know the Amadillos support global warming. Their motto is, "Onward to Point Barrow, once there were dinosaurs, now there will be Armadillos. "

Dillos are great little bulldozers of the animal world, they will get rid of your grub problem in a flash but also tend to leave your yard thouroughly ripped to shreds so the question is do you want a pristine yard with grubs or one that is grub free but looks like a rugby pitch after a rainy game?

I thought the comment about the 'dillos crossing bridges to advance was odd, especially since the little buggers can swim quite well.
I saw them often when I used to hunt years ago. Sit by a tree in the squirrel woods long enough and being quite blind, they'll walk almost right up to you while snuffling around in the leaves. Then you say BOO! and they run like crazy...
