proof of delivery / outside U.S. - 12-31-2006, 02:48 PM

Anyone ever use the USPS signature confirmation service? It totally didn't work for me. I requested the info from the USPS web site and it claims the last activity that occurred was my purchase of the service. It doesn't say the package was ever delivered, but I know it was. 1) My customer told me they got it and 2) My customer mailed something back to me that was in the package.

Anyone have experience with this service?

If I need to mail something outside the country, and I want proof of delivery, what's the best option? It's not something very valuable, and it's not goods that I am selling, but I want proof they received it. I want them to sign for it. I priced out an estimate on FedEx and it's expensive. I'd be fine with international priority mail if I could get a reliable proof of delivery.

When I dabble in rare books, for outside the U.S. I don't use a the USPS. DHL used to be very good but I understand they are under new owners and don't know. But it is costly.

In the U.S. for delivery confirmation, alway used registered/return receipt mail. That way you get the signature of the recipient delivered to you and not just a tracking number.

Thanks for the info. So if it's going outside the country, I guess that means I can't use USPS registered mail?

Mail delivery outside the US is handled by the receiving country and covered under postal treaties and their regulations. It looks like you can now do some counties.

Check this page out and the countries list.
