I have a leather strap for my KM 7D coming from B&H. I see this AM that it was received at my local USPS branch at 4:50 AM today. My carrier comes and goes, but no strap. I caught him next door, and he says he didn't get it. I figure that I will get it tomorrow, but I just checked the USPS site and they say they attempted delivery at 5:53PM and left a note on the door. There are two problems with this lie, my desk is 6' from the front door and the door bell never rang. and there is no note. This happened 6 months ago with my new flash. We all know that the USPS is above reproach, and you cannot fight city hall, much less the federal government. My carrier sorts my packages at the station so I can get them from him early in the day, so I know he was telling the truth. Apparently whoever was supposed to deliver it either left a note at the wrong address, or more likely was too lazy to deliver it at all. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. Well for one, most UPS guys around here never bother ringing a doorbell. The just leave the package sitting there and give you no heads-up that they have left it. Kinda pisses me off.

I feel your pain man. I personally have a strong dislike (aka hate) for UPS. Mainly b/c the UPS man hates me...but its not my fault my boxes are heavy or that I made him come back when he forgot stuff.
One time, I chased down my USPS guy a few blocks away b/c he had photos I wanted and left me one of those notes. We scared the tar out of him. Apparently they use Mace on people too. Dont spook the mailman!

Well they all kinda suck, but the USPS has been overall much better than UPS or FedEx for me. And at least USPS has regular Saturday delivery.

USPS also delivered a package on SUNDAY! Gasp! Right b4 Christmas. They also delivered on e the day after Christmas...
FedEx and I dont talk - dont even get me started on them.
Does anyone use DHL? PPA offered a discount but they never gave me an account. Maybe UPS talked to them about me. ;o)

FedEx couldn't find me so they decided to not only change my address... They put a correction sticker on there with a different name, a different address and a different town! They must be smoking too much of that funny stuff in these shipping centers.

When you think that all of them, Fedex, UPS, USPS and DHL do one heck of a job.
I can speak for Fedex but the other are the same or close.
At around 11:00 every night the packages start coming in they are unloaded sorted and put back on a plane heading back out starting at 2:00 AM. Now that is 6 million packages in about 3 hours.
Then they get to a station and are sorted into trucks and sent on their way out the door by around 7:00, come rain or snow.
Now NO one is perfect and I know we are not nor are any of the others so when you think about 6 million packages and 99% are delivered on time and to the right person that still leave 60,000 people that are not happy with use.
Not defending any of them just making a statement.

I have had about the same experience with the USPS. Their tracking system is a joke and at my local postoffice if you can find more than one person to help you when the line is out the door your having a good day.
For the most part I use the USPS when it is the only choice.

I have had problems like this in the past... a quick discussion with the Postmaster at my local post office makes the problem go away... sometimes in the form of a new carrier on my route.
Chances are if your carrier has done it to you, they have done it to someone else... and your complaint may be the last one before that carrier is reassigned. The carrier/delivery jobs are highly sought after because of the benefits and pay raise...

OK folks just think a minute, they had 3 days of mail to deliver, don't think that it is Sunday that mail doesn't flow through the system. Most likely the package didn't make it all the way to the carrier before he left the building in the morning and it isn't like the 1950's when the carrier carried your neighborhood twice! Yes they went out with the morning mail and then went back to the post office and picked up the second round of mail for the day and delivered their route a second time-mostly businesses had two rounds of mail but if a residence had mail in the afternoon that was a first class letter they were delivered a second time. No probably what happened is that the packages made it to the post office sometimes after the carriers had left and some clerk was told to processes the packages to show that they were in the system and to make their service look good they put them in as all being attempted for delivery-yeah we know it is wrong but there are idiots out there in the world, so don't blame your carrier.
Mail will be goofy through the end of the week, remember that they just got out from under the avalanche that was Christmas and then the extra day out for President Ford didn't help either and now they are being hit with IRS paperwork to deliver along with the usual junk mail.
Hope you get your strap later today.

I have a giant sign in 48 point BOLD type on the inside of my glass storm door that says: "TO FEDEX, UPS, USPS, DHL and all other common carriers: DO NOT DROP AND RELEASE. IF WE ARE NOT HERE, PLACE THE PACKAGE IN WILL CALL AND DO NOT ATTEMPT REDELIVERY. WE WILL COME TO WILL CALL AND PICK UP THE PACKAGE. THANKS."
None of the drivers for any of these companies can read English. Nuff said. It really ticks me off.

He always presorts my packages, becasue I will meet him early in the day so he doesn't have to carry the packages for a block before he gets to my house. Besides, I spoke with him after he left my house, and he is finished with his route well before 5:30 PM.

What I don't like is that someone other than my carrier was supposed to delievr and didn't want to get wet, or that someone inside the substation decided to falsify the papertrail.

I went to the sub station this AM, and they cannot find the package. The first woman I talked to told me it could not have arrived there yesterday AM and been delivered yesterday PM. She then told me that the people who deliver to them (???) sometimes indicate attempted delievry when there was no attempt. I asked for the postmaster and when she came to the door, she had researched the whole thing, but told me they could not find it, and would call me back after speaking to the afternoon supervisor. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
