No, let me rephrase that. I know I'm going to cry. I think I've lost my 70-200 lens. Seriously, how could this happen?? The last time that I know I had it was in the end of October at a wedding. I'm becoming more and more convinced that I left it/lost it at that wedding, but I can't imagine I wouldn't have noticed before now. On top of which, I'm not usually that ditzy...then again, I'm not usually that sleep deprived either. I don't usually pull it out for anything except weddings, but I must have had it with me for some engagements I shot recently or something, right? (It doesn't fit in my bad so it's always around lose somewhere.) Anyway, I go to pull it out today for some engagements I was shooting and go looking all over the house and can't find it anywhere. I know it doesn't help that my "storage closet" has been turned into a nursery (well, I used to keep all my extra equipment and props in the closet in that room) and my house has been invaded by guests and we've been travelling so much because of the holidays, but it's got to be here somewhere, right? I couldn't just lose a lens like that and no notice, could I? Really?!?!?! Anyway, if I have lost it, should I (a) get another 70-200/F 2.8 non-IS lens used or spend almost double and buy a new 70-200 IS lens? I know I could use the IS in some of these Catholic weddings, but since I can't find it used anywhere I'd be spending close to double on it. Oh and yes, I'm also getting me a nice big bag that can hold ALL of my equipment and my husband (finally) built me my cabinet in the office today so I have my storage space back (a little late for this), but...OMG. I feel like I've looked everywhere twice. I couldn't have done this, could I??

OUCH... I really hope you can find it again (and that it's still in your house somewhere).

I am so sorry to here this! I hope you find it.. perhaps the fact it's 1:30am is contributing to the loss. I will keep my fingers crossed that you locate it after some sleep.

Good luck!

I really hope you can find it. I always find something after I thought I lost it for a long time. I found $50 in my jeans' pocket which I hadn't wore it for a year once.

I sure hope it shows up! That hurts all the way down to the tip of my toes thinking it might of gotten away. I'm not one to criticize loosing stuff because I loose more stuff than I like to think about. I haven't lost my 70-200 yet though. I think I'd loose my camera before I lost that. Best wishes on finding it and quick!

That is the most unsettling feeling. For me it's usually something smaller (thank God), but ya feel like you're losing your mind. Do you have insurance?

That's the worst of it, Fran. My New Year's resolution was to get insurance and finally sort out some much needed details... I was halfway through getting my PPA membership and pricing my insurance when I noticed it missing. I need to call my home owner's insurance and see if it's covered by that, but I'm not all that hopeful.

I think you'll find it. I thought I lost my camera a few months ago when I was sleep deprived, I was flipping out real bad. I kept thinking I left it on top of the car overnite and one of the neighbors stole it. I remembered putting it down there to get my kid out of the car and I didn't remember picking it up. I ketp thinking, I can't be that air-headed tho, I would've grabbed it or sure, but since I didn't remember and it wasn't in my bag... Later I found it set down on a shelf right in front of my face next to the computer. I must've set it down there thinking I would see it and just wasn't looking later. I bet it's somewhere right under your nose.

I wouldn't be surprised if your homeowners covers it. Question is how much is your deductable?

If it was something used in a business and not added as a seperate rider they will most likely reject the claim.

After you have torn the house apart 4 times think back to the last event that it was used at and then see if that venue has a lost and found-someone may have turned it in. Of course the venue probably knew that there was a photographer there but they may not know that it was YOU and have no way to contact you.

Hope you find it.

I'm hoping that home owners would cover it since it's not used "exclusively" for business. I think our deductible is going to be pretty low, but I have to double check it. Of course, I'm pretty sure it would be it's market value not replacement value, so that's not going to help as much... Between the baby and business, I haven't had time to stop and breathe in the last few years. I know that's no excuse, but I kept meaning to get around to getting the insurance and getting a little more organized (like getting a new bag that fits all my gear and a place to keep it), but kept putting it off. You'd be surprised at how much stuff you have to do to entertain an infant and keep a business running. Still sucks!

Look in the car, under the seats and in the Trunk. Siunce you carry it loose, it could have rolled somewhere in the car.

Ditto to the lost-and-found. If something gets left at our church, it sits on a shelf for months until someone gets motivated to clean the junk out.
