My Larcenous Childhood ... - 01-10-2007, 09:45 AM

So there I am driving to the office today and I drive past a place that I used to be a Target. And for some reason a memory of a childhood scam came to mind. And it made me laugh.

Then that parlayed into memories of other things that I had done with my friends when I was still a minor. Not so … honest or reputable dealings. And that is when it dawned on me: I led a childhood laced with larceny!

I mean really, so I started to make a mental list:
  1. Masterminded a scam to buy used commodore 64’s exchange then for new ones and then return them for refunds and store credit.
  2. Made $5 bill replicas and used them to get tokens at the arcade.
  3. Stole a neighbor’s dog and returned him for the “missing” reward.
  4. Sold nude photos of my friend’s sister at school.
  5. Paid other kids $2 a unit to shoplift porn mags and then resold them at twice the cover price to other kids at school.
  6. Sold term papers.
  7. Super glued all the door locks on the first floor of the west wing of the high school so my friends and I could frame someone we didn’t like.
  8. Got a guy expelled so another friend could date a girl the first guy was seeing.
  9. Stole the keys out a gas company truck.
  10. Stole a surveyor’s tripod.
  11. Stole a tire off the security guards car while he was napping in the school parking lot.
  12. Tack welded 25 lockers to create a diversion so my friends and I could leave campus for lunch.
  13. Sold illegal fireworks my uncles got from Mexico.
  14. Sold McDonald’s to the kid’s in my junior high lunch room at twice the retail price.
  15. Conned a guy out of games for his Sega Master System and sold them to a friend of his so I could get NES games.
  16. Set off a fire alarm so I didn’t have to take a test.

I am sure there are things I can’t recall. It’s a wonder Pika and I turned out to be such good people.

You definitely need a much better comparison scale. Not every naked woman is hot. Would you call a naked Rosie O'Donnell hot? The Donald calls her a fat slob. How about a naked Barbara Walters? Naked does not equal hot in any book!

Counterfeiting!

You may want to check the statue of limitation for that crime before you make something like that public.

Curt - I can't believe it's you after all these years of searching! After you got me expelled I got into bodybuilding and ultimate martial arts, and I've broken bricks with my head for all these years waiting to find you and kick your ___. I could have been somebody!

DP,
It's a good thing we weren't friends. My list is probably even with yours, in terms of years I could be serving. But I'm a good girl now.

In the case of girls, I agree. Ron Jeremy, not so much.

DP we so would have gotten along! Only my list would have included a lot of pyromania and explosions like the time I thought it would be a good idea to take a 64oz gatorade bottle full of gas and run it across main street about 8pm. For whatever reason I thought it was going to be a little flame...boy was I wrong. I could go on for weeks with these stories. Oh the memories. Seems like they were yesterday...wait a minute
