Daniel Is The "Avis" of TPF

Sometime in the not-so-distant past, our own Daniel moved into second place on the list of posts among TPF members.

Congratulations, Daniel.

This is a stupendous accomplishment, requiring over 25 posts per day in only the first eight months of participation.

I appreciate his effort and contributions to our forum. As TPF has grown to 7,500 members, each individual post competes with more and more traffic to be noticed and to receive any feedback whatsoever. Daniel has been faithful to step into that gap. Almost always, he can be counted upon to provide a meaningful comment. That fact has to be encouraging to the many newer members who have joined in recent months.

I don't know what "Avis" is either, but I assume it more or less means "post whore".

I can say one thing about Daniel and that is the fact that he is (more often than not) the first post to a new member welcoming them. He's like the TPF welcome wagon....

Bruce would never use that kind of language to describe you. :-)

Avis means that you either "Try Harder" or that you're a rarity. Take your pick.

Here, we have the classic generation gap impacting communications.

"Avis" was/is the up and coming car rental company who dared to challenge the Big Boy, "Hertz," by claiming that even though they were only No. 2 in the car rental business, they tried harder (than No. 1).

This was a very successful campaign, now apparently lost in the mists of time in our popular culture. I sometimes feel very old.

Everything in my earlier post was a compliment, including the title. I would never, ever use such a crude, unflattering phrase as "post whore," even if it applied in this case, and it does not. To be called an "Avis" however is a good thing, as I intended it.

I was searching for Daniel's for sale post the other day, so I selected the view more posts by user from his user name.

It pulled up only the most recent 500.....and that was only since 12/22.....
