Winter Storm Watch - 01-12-2007, 12:56 PM

DFW is now included in a Winter Storm Watch from tonight through Sunday afternoon.

They can't make up their mind, last night the newscaster said the cold front was "racing" south, but then the weatherman said it was stalled over Oklahoma and the Panhandle.

Anyone up north actually getting any wintry weather?

It would be pretty cool if we got some. Too bad I don't even have a camera to document it...

Just saw that on the news. They showed pics of OKC and it is already white with sleet. It's already 32 in Wichita Falls. Burrrrrr.

The front has stalled literally over my apt.

It was sleeting on one side of the parking lot...but not the other.

It is cold here. We had freezing rain this morning.

I love the Panhandle.

Yeah I'm just waiting on the mailman before I head to San Antonio where hopefully the front doesn't hit until Sunday sometimes.

Personally, I rarely believe that the weather service has the ability to forecast beyond this afternoon. I'll believe the winter storm when I see the winter storm.

All the meteorologists have to go by are the computer models that are generated as the readings come in from the satellites and weather stations. They don't control the weather; they just try to forecast best as possible. Anyone who's lived in the north Texas area for very long should know by now that the weather is just plain wacky and virtually unpredictable.

John - I understand all that. The point that I'm making is that their track record in making predictions is kind of spotty, which is why I don't pay much attention to them.

My reply wasn't directed to you, Wes, but was one of a general nature. Others were voicing their opinion so I anted up. :-)

"Spotty" is a good word to describe it.

Around here if they forecast rain you look for it to hit at least 12hrs before what they say it is supposed to hit.

And what is up with have 7 day forecasts? 24hrs off is hard enough for them to predict much less the standard 5 day forecast. But 7 day? Give me a break.

After all, this is Texas... Don't like the weather.. Wait 5 minutes it will change and may be to something you hate worse.

We are now under an Ice Storm Warning - at least Tarrant County and north and west of there. This is from midnight tonight thru Sunday evening. Everyone be careful if you have to get out in the morning. I think I will be staying by a warm fire.

I'm prayin for snow in B/CS, which means there's a 99% chance there won't be any.
