Interesting.... I had originally heard that porn was going to support Blu-ray, which had me worried.

I'm a much bigger fan of HD-DVD. Mainly because I have a HD camcorder.

I can burn HD-DVD content on to a regular DVD-R and play it back in an HD-DVD player.

To burn my HD content on Blu-Ray, I would need a $700 burner and $25 for each blank BD-R.

One of my friends who is in the "industry" who does multimedia for DVDs was actually the first company to code a porn in blu-ray.

HD-DVD is a better shot though. :)

Still too early to call this one - but we may end up with Blu-Ray as a PC medium and HD-DVD as a video content medium.

No comment on the porn angle, but I've chosen sides with HD-DVD. Sony's arrogance annoys me, and the Blu-Ray camp had several stumbles from the start. The Blu-Ray hardware is more expensive yet less capable, while the HD-DVD spec seems superiour in everything but total GB (and they're already addressing that with triple-layer discs).

I just picked up the XBox-360 HD-DVD drive this week to use with my HTPC. Movies look awesome at 1080p.

I heard about this roughly a week ago. I'm kinda bummed because I planned on letting the price of a Blu-Ray burner come down to less than $500, install it in my computer and back up 50Gb's of data to a single disc.

Oh, well... something else will come along.

Blu-ray has a big advantage in that it is included in the PS3 but just the name HD-DVD might bring people to that format. I am going to wait because my TV is only 1080i

I haven't 'picked' a side yet. I can still stream my own HD content through my network to my TV.

I don't mind shelling out the $200 for an HD-DVD player, even if Blu-Ray wins the format war. What concerns me more is buying movies in the HD-DVD format, incase Blu-Ray wins the war.

If I could rent HD-DVD's I wouldn't feel so bad.

As of right now, pretty much the first format to start showing up on Blockbuster shelves is ultimately going to earn my dollars....

I'm shooting the National Hummer Event again this year, and this time I'm going to release the DVD in a dual jacket. One disc DVD, and one disc HD-DVD (encoded on a standard DVD-R)... Hopefully this will encorage more people to buy HD-DVD players....

From what I hear PS3's aren't exactly selling like hotcakes at $600/pop. Meanwhile for the 10-million homes out there that already have XBox-360's, the HD-DVD upgrade is only $199. And I believe Sony is still having problems sourcing their blue lasers.

A couple of studios have already announced that starting this year they're going to be selling dual-format discs that have Blu-Ray on one side and HD-DVD on the other so they should be pretty much future proof.
