Confessions of an addict... - 01-12-2007, 11:03 PM

I am embarrassed to write this, but it 's something I have to get out in the open.

My name is Carlos Garcia... and I am a Starbucks addict.

I used to mock them... now I have become one.

My poison. A large [Venti (roll eyes)], double shot, 2-pump, no whip iced moca.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I crave that damned thing.

I've purposely tried ice mocas at other coffee shops, but none have come close.

For my palate, it's the perfect blend of coffee, milk and chocolate.

DAMN YOU STARBUCKS!!!!!!!!

My name is Daniel Bates, and I'm not an addict--yet.

Which is a good thing, because that sort of addiction would wipe out my lens budget...

That stuff'll kill ya. I used to have a nasty coca-cola habit. I'd consume nearly 4 liters in a day. One morning I was watching the weather on TV before heading out to work, stood up and started walking to the door but I didn't make it. After standing up I drove myself to a hospital and sat in the waiting room while the doubting nurses looked at me. What is this 22 year old doing in here. He looks fine. An hour later they took my vitals and things changed dramatically. People started yelling and running around, pushing me, pulling me, sticking needles in me. I had to convince the doc that I wasn't on the kind of Coke that you have to buy in an alley. Atrial fibrillation is not something I'd recommend you experience. I thought I was having a freakin heart attack and I was only 22! To this day (a decade later) I still have sensitivity to caffeine. I can't have it without _feeling_ my heart beat in my chest.

In short, go de-caf!

Whoa!! 4 liters/day! That is asking for trouble. I thought a Dr Pepper a day was bad.

I do drink about 2-5 cups of coffee a day, depending on the day.

The iced moca is a craving that I satisfy at least twice a week.

Driving thru town the other day I saw a great photo op....a Starbuck across the street from another Starbucks. I think it's funny but don't think most people would get the joke.

I hate Starbucks but love coffee and they will have to pry my grinder from my cold dead hands to get it from me! The Hawaiian stuff is the nectar from the Gods.

Iced grande non-fat chai tea latte is my drug of choice. Definitely not addicted though. I get maybe one or two a month. Sometimes I get on a kick where I'll get several in a week then have another drought. I'm a water drinker overall :D

Lets see. My addictions. Cigarettes, Coffee, and coke. I love coke. I used to drink a lot more until in 8th grade I dehydrated myself for only drinking Pepsi ALL the time. Just last year, I finally got over the headaches from lack of caffeine. Now being 20 I'm am paying the price from my unhealthy actions while in my younger years. Getting over drinking coke non stop has made my body act like a hypoglycemic. If I miss a meal or don't have enough caffeine in me I get headaches that get so bad they actually cripple me. Its no fun. Now I'm a bit smarter and limit my caffeine intake just enough to not get a headache but not in excess to cause me to get even more unhealthy. Haha I like how I saw that then I go to smoking. It has actually help me a lot and I trade the harm it does for keeping me level with all the crap that goes on in daily life. My job mostly. But now after smoking for two years I'm stuck on that.....crap.

I do still keep in good contacts with my doctor and keep up on diet and exercise so I'm pretty content with my addictions. My last addiction is speed. Car, motorcycle, whatever I love it. I really don't condone driving fast or things like that so I spend my times and money at the track. I figure I'll let the other addictions kill me, not my car.
