Let it Snow, Let it Snow - 01-17-2007, 06:28 AM

We have over an inch in Dublin and it's still coming down. The University is closed (we opened 2 hours late yesterday).

Let it snow...

Woke up to Sleet in Dallas at 5:30 and it is snowing now out here.

Man I am so glad that I decided to leave San Antonio on Monday at 4 instead of spending the night since if I had I would still be down there, really the town isn't that bad but I did need to get my keister back to Bid D.

Heard that Fredricksburg and Kerrville are shut down-snow in the Hill Country!

One thing brought out on one of Austin's TV stations yesterday morning is that a freezing rain event like this really helps bluebonnets in how the seeds germinate and this is hitting just a bit late for the season but we may have a great Wildflower season this year!!! So the end of february the Blue Bonnet plants should be noticeable along the highways, the green foliage, and biways and that will give us an advance as to how great they will be for St Patricks day to Easter time of year.

BTW was asking around with the other members at the EXPO if anyone had seen you and no one knew if you made it or not and then Don said that you couldn't make it after all. Next year it will be in Tampa Fl around the same time in January.

I didn't make it. We awaked to ice on cars and roads that Saturday here and decided not to push our luck.

My school district waited until 6:45 to post that we were closed...man, hell itself practically has to freeze over before we get a snow day! Thankfully, I won't have to make the 35-mile trek to work. My kids were almost as excited as me. ;)

Over an inch of the white stuff here. Unfortunately, it was sleeting first - VERY slick, but pretty.

Sleet here in Mesquite and my boss even called to say don't come in if I "don't feel it's safe". I believe that's a first ever! We old buggers can't take a chance on a slip and fall that will break something so I may just stay home...
Mesquite schools are also closed for the day.

Walking on ice=no
Walking on sleet (marbles)=no
Walking on snow-maybe

Not much snow here really, waiting for a nice cloud to dump a bunch on east side of town-guess I need to get ready to go out in the 25F and see what I can catch around White Rock lake and other parts of east dallas/fair park.

Yeah, my school waited until 545 to call it off. Too bad I left for school at 5....I turned around after awhile. The roads were ridiculous, no sanding at all.

We are up to 3 inch here in Dublin. I need to go out with the f/1.0 while it's still dark and try for headlights on it. The Milk trucks are the only things on the roads.

I'm from upstate NY and know how to handle bad weather and roads.
I got to work on Monday with no problems. I started out this morning, got a few blocks from home and turned around and came back. People are crazy out there, and it' just not safe. Plus, my all wheel drive was sliding around pretty good.....
