Mounting Question

Ok, I've heard a few different things about this. I am getting ready to order a 20x24 for a customer....I have heard that it's best to have some sort of mounting on photos 11x14 and larger. I've got a couple 11x14's that I've had put on 3/16 gatorboard but that's too thick for this particular image. My lab offers several options in the mounting dept......so what do y'all think? I know from experience how very easy it is to put a small crimp in a photo from just handling it. Thanks for your input.

i dont like gator because it gets dents... i use an acid free matte board...

WEll, this will be in a frame and they've said they don't want glass....I'm not in charge of any of that though. I'm just providing the photo.
My 11x14's are BW's ,luster finished and are on my mantle.....just the way I wanted them to be.
