I am going to China for two weeks and have some questions. So who has been to China recently? Did you have a good time? Did you book a tour or did you just go and planned accordingly?

I've been to China a few times and always liked it. It will be helpful to have someone with you who can speak Mandarin or the local dialect. This doesn't necessarily mean having a full blown tour, and it will depend on where you go. I've never had a problem with the food there. Same rules there as any other foreign country: stick to things that are cooked for the most part (avoid raw veggies and fruits), and don't drink any water unless you bought the bottle.

We are going to Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou. Plus my wife speaks mandarin, thank goodness.
