Digital Rebel question - 01-21-2007, 03:04 PM

I have a new Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, I would like to use the RAW + JPEG image capture option, but it seems to produce two identical JPEGs, and no RAW file. Am I misunderstanding this feature?

Thank you in advance.

Charles

What makes you think there are 2 .jpeg's? If you plug the CF card into a card reader, then view the filenames, one should have a .jpg extension and the other a .cr2(?) extension.

I have been going directly from my camera into Adobe Bridge or Photoshop, I have also gone from my camera to a file and then to photoshop. Both images appear as .jpg files.

What extensions do you see with Windows Explorer for Finder if on a Mac?

Have you tried just setting it for Raw only and what do you get?

This post would get more attention over in Equipment.

Before moving any files, read the file extensions on the card. Pick up a cheap CF card reader if you need to. That will verify whether the camera is actually writing 2 .jpg files. Oh, and what OS are you using? Mac or WinD'ohs?
