Glacier National Park - Ideas and what to do - 01-21-2007, 04:39 PM

Ok, the wife and I have somewhat made a decision to go to Glacier National Park in Montana this summer.

Im asking for any advice on what to do and what to see.

We would prefer to stay in a cabin (not a resort type lodge) as to avoid the droves of people.

We have been looking on line at some places, but as always its best to ask fellow photogs who have been there.

Thanks

James

I have made 3 trips to the region. I would suggest that you stay in the St. Mary area and enter the park from that locale. Many of the remote water falls are some hike of the main 'Going to the Sun' road but well worth it (watch out for the bears). Go early and stay late....capture the color.
My experience was that going in late August...First week of Sept. avoided a lot of the tourist crowds seeing that the kids were going back to school.

Enjoy the quiet and the serene beauty.

Thanks, James. I'm a teacher as well, so I went in early July. It helps to venture out early, and the crowds will develop later.
