Houston Auto Show and cameras - 01-22-2007, 03:53 PM

I've been going to the auto show every year with a small P&S. Do they care if you bring a dSLR with a flash gun? I just don't want them to think I'm the press or anything. I think it would be a great opportunity for me to work on my indoor/low light skills.

I doubt they care...you might want to go to their website and check with them.

I doubt if it's a problem. I have never had any problems at any Ft. Worth Car or Bike Show. You might have trouble with a tripod if there is much crowd movement though.

I was there with my N80 and SB-28dx a couple of years ago, no problems at all. Things may have changed, but I doubt it. If I go this year, I am taking my D200 and SB800.

I was working the gun show last weekend and wondere the same thing. The gun show normally has until sometime Monday to totally vacate, but this show all had to be out before 10 PM. When I left at 7, they had 1/3 of the wall out of the way. At midnight Monday AM, a fleet of 18 wheelers was supposed to begin unloading carpet, etc. for the car show.

By the way, I posted a thread a while back with info on contacting the promoter at the F/W Greater Tarrant County Auto Show at the F/W convention center. Her daughter is a friend of mine, and I asked her about press passes. She told me to give out her cell# as a contact for anyone interested in press access ( I assume that means free or discounted with special access beyond gen admiss.). She only asked that those wanting passes have a legitimate reason to have them, perhaps an affiliation with some local media outlet.

Here is the link. http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=38849
