Good Morning TPF! - 01-28-2007, 06:01 AM

What a wonderful Sunday morning. Nice and quiet. I get to clean the house today, since the realtor is dropping by with the camera guy to take 360 degree video. I could probably do it with my Canon Elura 100 and tripod... I guess that guy must be a pro. I'm ready to get some breakfast and get my day started. Hope you guys have a great Sunday... What are your plans for Sunday?

btw, I spent most of the night adding pics to myspace...haha

I bet the realtor shows up with some type of Egg Lens, or Ipix system, or some other one shot 360 lens attached to a small point and shoot digital camera. Most realtors use these type of rather inexpensive 360 lens- no stitching, just the software that will unwrap the image.

Good morning Alex! Planning to enjoy the sun and clear skies here in Houston today. Well, after church at least. Gotta take advantage since nice weather days like these seem to generally happen when one is stuck inside the office during the week.
Good luck with the house.

Morning to you Paulo! Ah good ol' church...that's a good idea to clear the mind on Sunday. I think I'll go to afternoon service since I'm wrapped up for the morning and early afternoon. Thanks for the kind words!

I think I'm going to slap my 70-200mm on my Rebel and march around this photo guy. We'll see what this guy brings. I think I'll go ahead and take pictures of this guy taking pictures of the interior of the house... I just hate strangers coming into the house. The realtor is a family friend but the photo guy, I have no idea who this person is.

Happy Sunday!

Alex, maybe you will get lucky and the photographer will show up with some type of nice rig for shooting VR tours, such as the gear made by Really Right Stuff and others. You can get some quality VR work with these pro rigs, instead of the one shot VR lenses like an Egg Lens (which is made in France, of all places).

The Egg Lens is one of the most common types of these VR lenses. It mounts on the camera, he puts the camera on a tripod flat on it's back with the lens pointing up in the air, sets the timer, walks out of the room, and it takes a "donut" shot- completely round photo. Then they run it through the software and it unwraps the image and turns it into a VR tour. The problem with these systems is that you have almost no control over the light and so on.

If it is Ipix, it is a fisheye type lens that mounts on a digital P&S- he will shoot a 180 shot one way, rotate the camera on a special axis gizmo, then shoot another 180 the other way and then the 2 shots will be stitched together with the software. You have a little more control with this type of system. Flare is a problem for both systems.

Good luck on selling your house.
