You never know. Search the forum for "finnish scam".

Odds are, however, you'll wind up with a rubber check like this one.

If they send you a check for more than the amount and ask you to send the difference to any other person, that's a 100% USDA prime grade scam.

It might be worth checking out though (as in the Finnish scam story)...

Daniel,

How's that Phase One working out for you so far? What kind of adapter are you using for the Holga? Gaffer tape?

You'll have to post a shot of that sometime.

Wink Broken English - 02-01-2007, 10:57 AM

For someone from Canada, they sure use a broken English. Methinks, they're from Nigeria, sitting in a coffee bar in Nigeria, and spending hours upon hours on the WWW looking for what P.T. Barnum observed was born every minute.

So ask her where the concert is at so you can go look it over beforehand.

Well, one side's held on with gaffer's tape but the other side is just held on with a rubber band. I'm working on getting some more tape to seal the light leaks... it's tough being a broke college student.

Hell if you live in Austin ask them what the venue is. Play them like a fish.

Then check with the venue and see if they are booked for that date-usually website will have April bookings listed by now.

Then if listed give the fish a qoute that is exhorbitant, list needs of using 2 assistants, renting special lighting equipment etc to run the price way up and see what their reply is. A legit musician will tell you to bugger yourself if the qoute is more than a few hundred for the shoot.

There is a site on the web that specializes in people playing these scam artists and actually have fun with it.

Since he/she is a musician ask if they have any recordings available that you can listen too so that you can get the mood that they will want in their photos, etc.

Yep scam baiting is fun.

See what kind of free stuff you can get them to send you with the check. I'd ask for some local handcraft (like a carved camera)
