Scary Morning! - 02-05-2007, 01:23 PM

I walk in to work this morning and we share our corridor with another office. The receptionist had this funny look on her face and was obviously distracted but I had no clue why. I came on in but when I went and checked the back door, I realized there were 2 police cars outside of the back of their office. We later found out that someone had broke into their office. The first employee in the office apparently walked in while they were still in there and they hit him with something (unsure what but he was bleeding pretty bad). Why would someone break into a building at 7:15am that faces a road to a school where there is a lot of traffic? There are some messed up people out there! I think I'll be coming in right on time from now on, no more early mornings!!

There are plenty of stupid criminals out there. I've read some interesting stories. And Jay Leno will tell about some real good ones especially on Monday nights during Headlines. But I should rephrase that to "extra stupid criminals" as anyone that would live a life of crime is stupid anyway.

Yeah, we got to hear more this afternoon. Apparently the robbery wasn't going on when they went in the office. They apparently forced him in at gunpoint and robbed the place stealing some 60" TV's (I wish my office had 60" Plasma TV's) before going into the ceiling and cutting the wires to the security cameras. They are so shaken up over this and to be honest, it's a little too close!! Working normal 8 to 5 hours will be so different yet so enjoyable!!!

I'm curious about this event. Was the company an av company or a business that utilizes plasmas? I work for an av company in Houston and I've often thought of that happening here.
Any other info would be appreciated, it may provide us with some incentive to do more on the security side. Thanks and sorry you had to go through that experience.

I believe they have something to do with credit card processing. They've already been in there this week installing replacements.
From what we've been told over the last few days, it sounds like it might have been an "inside job". Still sad either way!

I think it just proves how important it is to always be in the "red". Meaning, always be aware of what is going on around you! We are located in a very nice part of Plano but obviously that doesn't matter. I have gotten to where if I go to the store, I literally carry my keys with my car key at easy access to use as a weapon. It's sad to think that we have to be aware everytime we go anywhere, but if we let our guard down and are not prepared then what??

I remember as a youngster you could leave the house, car , etc., unlocked and never have to worry about it. Now you almost have to be armed. It's a sad commentary on life today. Keep safe Roxanna and your guard up!

I don't know if this has been floated around this site yet, or not, but it seems to fit the topic.

That was very interesting Don. If they would put that energy into a regular job looks like it would be alot safer and probably not have to work as hard. Oh well, that's why criminals aren't rocket scientists.
