Where to buy TV - 02-13-2007, 01:13 PM

Okay guys/girls,
I am going to be buying a new tv. Where has everyone gotten there from? I am looking in the Dallas area preferably north. I know of the CC's and BB's any others?

Help me out

with the ongoing bad rep of Best Buy with their returns and repairs, I opted to get mine from Sears.

THe price at Sears was actually a few bucks cheaper, plus the sales guy gave us an additional 200 off the sales price, so I paid like $300 less than the sales price at Best Buy....not saying you will get a deal like that, but .... its worth a look

Sams, Costco, Frys, and Ebay! heheh I got a 65 inch rear projection HD DLP TV for 2K on Ebay. It was a local buy so we could check it out and it was brand new in the box. It was someone who bought a lot of the stock that the arlington electronic store, that just went under a few years back, and he flipped it on Ebay for a profit since he was an employee and got an employee discount AND a 50 percent off discount.

In the old days, Tweeter (Home Entertainment) was as cheap as the big box stores and their people knew what they were doing.

Costco....if you don't like it, they have a liberal return policy. Unfortunately, folks do abuse that policy and I am afraid that Costco may change their policy on television like they did on computers.

Depends on what you are looking for. The product lines that the 'big box' stores carry usually end at or below the bottom of the barrel from a specialty store. Not saying that is bad, but you are severely limiting your options if you don't expand your search to include the specialty AV segment.

One big thing to ask about is warranty work. I used to love Tweeter because if you had a problem under warranty, they would take care of it. Some stores leave it up to you and the mfg - so you have to deal with driving it or shipping it to a repair shop.
