New family addition on the way! - 02-28-2007, 07:46 AM

We recently had to say goodbye to our 16 year old cat. It was hard, but her time had come. That left our Bengal quite a lonely boy, so Anne and I decided to add a little girl to the family. She will be traveling to Dallas from Illinois late March. These images are from the breeder. Her father is from the same bloodline as Mr. Hobie.

Awwwww

I resigned myself this morning that I need to find a single dog home for my Jack Russell Terrier. He and my Min Pin just absolutely can't get along and the dog fights that ensue when like last night my wife lets the JRT outside without realizing that the Min Pin is already out are dangerous to both them and to us.

We won't name her until she arrives. The breeders like to keep them until they are 12 weeks old and really ready to leave their mom.

We're really hoping that they get along right away. We'll still have to keep them away from each other unattended. At 16#, the big boy could hurt her and not even know it. Good news is they grow quickly...

Sorry to hear about your pet troubles Mike. I sure hope mine get along...

We just recently brought a pair of siamese kittens into the house with our 16 year old 20lb (not fat) tabby .. the old guy adopted em so you might be lucky also.

What a beautiful cat! I'm a little curious as to the cost- does the breeder have a website?

There are two breeders who are the champions of the Bengal breed. We bought Hobie, our male, from Gene Ducote at www.GoGees.com. The original breeder is Jean Mill. You can see her site at http://www.millwoodbengals.net. Our new girl is coming from Jill Orman at Legacie Bengals http://www.legaciebengals.com

All you could want to know is available at TIBCS website http://www.tibcs.com/main.aspx

If you want a near show quality kitten as a pet from one of the top breeders, be prepared to spend around $1K. If you want a true show quality animal with a champion bloodline expect two to three times that.

There are many breeders claiming to have 'Bengal' kittens, but please take care to make sure they are registered with TIBCS and are producing kittens responsibility. All the breeders I've mentioned by name are very well known and have produced many champions and wonderful pets.

Good luck. We love our Bengal and can't wait for #2 to arrive!

People breed cats? I thought people just tried to give them away after accidental breeding!

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

Jeez scott.. I thought at first there were baby pictures on your horizon....

but, a bengal is a nice cat, as long as they don't grow too big for their stripes.
