The article says that this is Gore's personal "Inconvenient Truth." Unfortunately, we don't know the whys of the increased usage.

C'est la vie!

Does his secret underground lair really draw that much power ? Is the mind ray left on stand-by all the time ? Doesn't he know that electrified fences and pools can be shut down during the day ?

Perhaps it is the permanently running fake volcano that he disposes of his enemy's bodies in that consumes all the natural gas.

First of all, it comes from , let's say, a dubious source.

Gore has a big house. Lots of people have big houses in the U.S. It takes more energy to run a big house. There are sources out there that show what Gore has done to his estate to make it as effecient as possible. Really entertaining and educational to read.

This crap has been floating around on the net for a couple of weeks now.

Before you start calling someone a hypocrite, do a little research. Name calling is easy.

Now, has this made this poltical enough that someone can shut down this bull**** thread?

Not really a political thread. I was referring to his MOVIE not his standing in politics...

Plus look on CNN's main site under video. I hope CNN is not considered as a DUBIOUS SOURCE. So before you start, maybe it is you who should do some research. Sorry it has been floating on the net for a couple of weeks. It made it to CNN yesterday and the report was released on the 26th of this month. Sounds like a couple of weeks to me.

Here is the other side of the story a down to earth version. I guess I should thank him for the internet though.

they are comparing apples to oranges. The average american home located where? and what size home are they calling average?
the average home in Houston, TX will have much higher electric usage than the average home in Montana. You add these together and the average number is much smaller than one single number.

its nice and fun to play with averages as you can get the data right where you want it for these kinds of usless trivial reports.

The problem is that his offered rationalization of "carbon footprint trading" does NOTHING to reduce overall impact. It merely purchases the freedom to use more power.

The so-called "green power sources" are of no real benefit to global warming as the real cause is NOT human activity and greenhouse gas. It's solar activity.

regarding al gore: if i get a call that my house is on fire, i'm going to respond to that even if it was an arsonist that called me.

my thoughts on global warming: i'm not a scientist and don't pretend to be one. a large majority of scientist think it is likely due to human impact. not being a scientist i only have my common sense to go on and will give everyone my ear. i have children. i love this crazy world and most things in it so i like to think of it this way: if 4 out of 5 health experts were saying it was reason A (caused by something i could correct) that was causing my children harm while 1 out of 5 health experts were telling me it was reason B (a natural occurrence that I could do nothing about), i feel that the logical thing would be for me to try to correct reason A. now, correcting reason A might or might not work but it would be the best decision i could make at the time.

sorry for being a little long-winded there.

So, Rick, someone says something about Al Gore that you don't like so you fly off the deep end in the hopes of getting the thread locked or deleted? VERY mature.

James - good point. We used to have a manager at work that loved to say, "On average Lake Michigan is only 3' deep, but I wouldn't want to try and walk across it."

Ken and Sir Galahad - this thread isn't so much about Global Warming, but rather it's about someone who claims to be an environmentalist appearing to not practice what he preaches.

which is what I was referring to in the 1st part of my post about the arsonist.

the risk is that people ignore important messages from people for reasons that have nothing to the message. Our culture is full of personal attacks, vicious ramblings, and idle gossip (isn't anna fascinating) all of which distract us from thinking critically about issues of life and death. It's much easier to yell, "freedom-hater", "hypocrite", "right-wing nutjob", "evil-doer", "islamo-fascist", or "liberal" than it is to face crucial issues.

If you read Gore's responses you will find that he claims to have accomodated his admittedly high energy consumption by means of carbon trades.

Carbon trades do nothing to reduce carbon consumption (to say nothing of the falacy of the whole carbon thing), they merely shift it to another place. Like most policies of the left, it is merely a shift or reallocation of wealth in the form of carbon credits, not a meaningful reduction. Therein lies the fundamental hypocracy.

On the other hand, the President's compound in Crawford actually USES less energy thru recycling, etc.

I'm corious how they explain the ice age going away because I'm pretty sure back then there wasn't to much Human impact to melt all those Ice caps, etc. Which tells me that global changes are naturally caused (not saying that us Humans don't have an impact because we do and we may be accelerating the process) so I believe that these changes wil take place either way. BTW after getting over 24" of snow dumped at my house in less then a week I really have a hard time believing it is as bad as they say. Heck Avian Flu was supposed to be a huge epedimic per the experts and that has yet to pan out. Oh yeah and sorry but a guy who lies about inventing the Internet isn't much of a source in my book.

Could this finally be the real reason for this thread?
