Ok so a year ago I put a print out at the Dallas BA Framers in the Great indoors store. They were suppose to sell it on consignment. Well I called them today and the manager has NO idea what I am talking about. After looking through the paper work he found my paper work but couldnt find my print ANYWHERE!! Well after putting me on hold for 10 mins and searching the warehouse he found it! it was back in STORAGE!!! IT HAD NEVER been Framed and DISPLAYED!!! What kind of a Shop are these people RUNNING?!?!?!? So needless to say I need to make a trip after work to BA Framers and PULL my work! Gosh this REALLY stinks!
Luckily I have one in the Southlake Town Square store that is FRAMED and DISPLAYED and is up for sale, no bites yet though

Seriously, Cynthia, you are only finding this out after a full year? You might want to pay a visit to your resellers a bit more often. They could have gone belly up (80% do in the 1st year) and you never would have recovered your print.

I know. That was my fault. it was one of those things that I HONESTLY forgot about it! hehehe I put the second print in BA Framers in Southlake town Square two months ago, so Once I hung up with the Dallas store I IMMEDIATLY called the Southlake store. I will be calling them on a regular basis now! heheh This is the first time I have ever done something like this.
How do others of you sell your prints? Do you do them through dgrin? or other website? or are there other retailers out there that do consignment? I know aaron bro's is owned by Michaels and neither take commision items. =(

At the moment I have some at a local framing shop, try some of those in your area. They all want "art" to generate framing sales. It's more a matter of does your style fit their market, and don't try to price your stuff based on what you see in the retail places like Michael's; they sell their posters for $15-20!

I built a portfolio of the largest prints that would fit in a folio and shop it around the local mom-and-pop framing stores, they are on every corner around here. And they are a great resource on what sells and what doesn't. Ask them what sells: styles, sizes, colors, themes...You may be surprised, I was. Some will buy flat out, some subtract commission.

Also I'm working (ok, I'm paying someone) on a website, I think this will target poster size works.

I also donate to worthy causes to just get known.

I get to the frame shop about once a month, either to just chitchat or to take new prints and guage the market.
