Ups #**$^# ! - 03-05-2007, 09:20 PM

I ordered a part for my motorcycle last week and paid the extra money to have it shipped 2nd day air so I could install it for the weekend. Well here it is Monday and no part yet. The tracking number shows it was shipped Thurs and right now it is setting at the UPS place in Mesquite where it has been since last night! Somebody is going to refund me some money! This is the third time UPS has done this crap, I hade second thoughts about paying the extra because everytime it has been no faster than the regular shipping. Well now that I have blown off a little steam I'm going outside to shoot something, it's a good thing for the birds that they don't come out at night.

Would anyone else like to rise up and take back what UPS has stolen from us??????

You can count me in. I ordered a new Canon Macro lens last week...paid the extra $19.00 bucks for the 2-day delivery....it was due to me on Friday...it got mis-sorted at the hub in Houston and went God knows where before it got re-routed back to me today. I kept calling UPS asking them where my lens was and that I wanted a refund.

My lens finally showed up this afternoon in good shape. I was worried about damage but it was fine. UPS told me I would need to contact Adorama about getting a refund on my 2-day shipping fee I paid.

All I have to say is SOMEBODY is gonna refund me my money...either UPS or Adorama!

Yeah UPS refunds the shipper and then you have to file with the shipper for the refund. Some enterprising programers several years ago wrote some programs for shippers to run to see what didn't get delivered on time so they could file for refunds. (UPS has in it's contracts that these programs are illegal to run but I don't think they have been able to enfore the rules on their use. UPS was having to pay out a lot more money to companies taht used em since there was little manpower involved and the payout was pretty good).

So complain to the shipper and demand a refund or credit to your account for the shipping fees above regular rates. If 1 day was $80 and 2 day was $55 and gound was $14 then the shipper should credit you $66 or $41 depending on which service level was failed. (amounts are for example purposes only).

Having used to work for UPS for many years I know how they hate to refund shipping charges but they will!

I will never ship anything UPS. I have mailed items for christmas to NJ through UPS - One time they damaged the shipment and the second time they delivered it to the wrong house.

If I have a choice, it's the shipper that's NOT ups.

That's odd cause everything that I have ordered from B&H coming via UPS has come on time. :)

I have read on other photo forums that B&H Ships UPS. people on the other forums have ordered stuff through B&H and when they got it, it was broken in to several pieces and looked like someone had played street hockey with it! hehehe I dont do anything via UPS if I can avoid it. that and USPS. We shipped an item from an Ebay sale via USPS and the guy got the item 6 MONTHS later!
I Think Brad said it best in another thread: You get what you pay for! I guess in UPS's case you DONT get what you pay for =(

I agree UPS has never been the best service and they have actually have been the only service to destroy shipping cartons and items inside. However, all the stuff I ordered from B&H came in OK. Don't know what they do different but so far so good.

My guess would be that B&H's packages are so much different than other suppliers because they kpet getting complaints that people's stuff was broken, got fed up, and told UPS: If anything is broken, YOU'RE paying for it. Don't f*ck up.

Problem Solved.

I find that most stuff arrives on the third day so save your dough and avoid quick shipping.

Hmm...they use corrugated cardboard like many shippers...although they pack their boxes real well with those air bladder things which I always reuse for my eBay auctions. :)

I used to work in the receiving department of a food distribution company, and of DHL, FedEx, and UPS, UPS was the only one I ever had problems with. And it was almost on a daily basis.
I hate UPS.

Amazing..... I guess it's where you live.... I've never had a problem with UPS.. ever... They're always my first choice for shipping.

And, John, we need to find all of the folks in "the area" (500 mile radius) and get together for a motortcycle ride as soon as you get your part...... There's some great riding out your way. I hear there's a catfish place near Douglasville??? that's supposed to be really good.

Well the part that should have been here Friday arrived today about ten minutes ago. Now how's that for service? Only cost me $25 extra to recieve it 4 days late! Way to go UPS

Sounds good to me David. I'm trying to get my Daytona ready for the Honda Hoot this year. They have moved it to Tenn but it should still be worth the ride. I loved it when the had it in N.C and everyone would ride the Dragons Tail.
