That's good humor.
Funny, though--I never hated him as much as some. There's a long list of photographers with bigger egos than his.
I'm not a huge fan, but I don't bag on him like some do. I actually admire his entrepreneurship (kinda like Fong).
(Not saying you're a hater, Pete.)

LMAO. Those are pretty good.
I've written him before and gotten responses back. He seems pretty down to earth.

The term tripod was coined after his silhouette.
Bahahahaha
why do so many people hate him? I haven't spent extensive time looking at his site, but he seems normal enough to me, I just know alot of people dislike him strongly.

Ken is Ken. Is there anyone who agrees with someone on everything? I think not.... Besides even Michael Reichmann has been known to "temper" his review on occasion... Leica M8 anyone?
But there is no such thing as bad press and while we know his name, I bet he knows a whole lot fewer of us.....
But, my personal favorite because it can be used by anyone is this line : "Only Ken Rockwell can take pictures of Ken Rockwell; everyone else would just get their film overexposed by the light of his genius".
Talk about your <insert name here> line....

Heh... there was some funny stuff in there. And I agree, press is a good thing, whether it's positive or negative.

AdobeRGB or How To Get Great Color, for example. He uniquely combines delusional arrogance with willful ignorance.

I have to say that when I was just getting into photography I read a good amount of Ken's website and thought I had learned a good deal. Since then personal experience has taught me Ken has his own ways of doing things that don't work for me. The reason people don't like Ken is that while most people can acknowledge the same methods don't work for everyone, for Ken its his way or you're S T U P I D.

Agreed, I spent many moments on his website when I was first getting back into photography, and found him valuable, as long as I had a BS detector handy.

Ken despises lens hoods...I have found out they are a necessity in wide angle lenses especially with daylight! Ken is a great read if you are just starting out. Akin to someone re-telling a movie to you, you appreciate the movie better by seeing it yourself.
I like this one though:
Ken Rockwell is the only person to have photographed Jesus; unfortunately he ran out of film and had to use a piece of cloth instead.

I love those kinds of lists
These are great:
" Ken Rockwell ordered an L-lens from Nikon, and got one."
" Ken Rockwell's digital files consist of 0's, 1's AND 2's"

I liked
For every 10 shots that Ken Rockwell takes, 11 are keepers.
That's what I am going for. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
