HELP!!! with scanning 35mm prints - 03-17-2007, 11:09 AM

Hi all,

I want to scan old 35mm prints, my baby pics, my wifes baby pics, our wedding etc.

Need advice on how/where to scan these things. Ritz quoted me $1.99 PER PRINT SCANNED. with over 2000 prints, thats freaking expensive. Thanks in advance.

Just buy a decent quality scanner for around $200.00 and scan them yourself. It will probably take several week-ends to get them all scanned, but you will have it done and still own a nice scanner. I have an Epson that is about six years old and it does a great job.

I'm down with that, you could save approx 3,780.00 .
I try to use like an index card or something that I can place each pic against and therefor be in the the same location for every scan.

I use canon 9950 for prints, film strips and slides and it does a really good job for personal work. Not the level of top professional scanners, but close. Don't remember what it cost but it wasn't super expensive.

I just sent 700 prints to ScanCafe. 24cts a Scan, and I only pay for the ones I want to keep. So if I dont like 100 out of the 700, I only pay for 600 scans. Pretty neat, you have to pay for shipping though.
