How would one break into the business of being a Make Up Artist? I know a couple women that may have some talent in this area and would like to pass along a couple tips on how they might start making some money at it.

Since I am in the middle of no where, I have been helping women do the same thing. Mainly so I get a good MUA at a good price, but it helps them get more business.

First, they need a portfolio. They need to showcase their different skills (eg wedding make-up, glamor, natural, etc). Have a different sample with different models. Try to showcase different completions and colorings.

Then get a Model Mayhem account and One Model Place. There are a few others to peek at. List their services with their images.

Also - good wedding make up is hard to come by. If she has sample shots, she can do a bridal fair and get lots of work there. Also, along wedding lines, she can contact an event planner/ wedding coord. and send her samples of work. If you help a wedding coord in a bind - she'll be a friend for life.

Just a few ideas...
