So I was eating my breakfast with Pika this morning and we were reading the news. And since we like to read Google News (even though Google scares us) we get a schmattering of this and that from here and there.
Well one of the
articles was discussing the UK release of Sony's P3. Now first of all let me say that I don't have a P3. Partly because I can't afford one but also because Pika would just sit in front of it and waste his fuzzy little life away and there would have to be an intervention. Hell there may have to be a WoW intervention as it is now.
But I digress.
When the P3 came out in the states I baulked at the price. I mean come on. Cooooooooommmmmmmeeeeeee on. That's alot of bones man. I think it was like $500 for the base and $600 for the ultra deluxe version. Or there abouts. And it didn't even come with those nifty extras that
Billy Mays is always yelling at me about on TV. But it seems that the price in the UK coverts to $830 US.
Sheesh. Me love you long time.
Now I know that there has to be some kind of tarrif issue involved. But whatever drove that price to $830 is just insane. I mean clearly in the membrane. That toads the wet sprocket (love Futurama). Who the hell is going to pay $830 for a game unit? I laugh. I laugh out loud.
What kind of marketing campaign can Sony deliver that will move $800 game systems? Offer free games for life? Come wash my car? Free virtual marriage port accessory? Come on, tell me! And yell it at me like Billy does. And then double it like that little english guy with the suspenders. Pika loves that guy.
I don't know what people are thinking over there. But whatever it is they have to be thinking it through a cloud of crack pipe smoke.
Why can't Sony just let the Blue Ray thing go and sell a system that people can afford? Of course Pika says that I am just being cheap and should buy him a P3 and preorder him a P4.
I told him he could tape three P1's together. He said it wasn't the same and that not buying him one was child abuse. Thankfully CPS blocked my cell phone number because they were tired of hearing from him.
Prophet out.
