Chow Yun-Fat - 03-24-2007, 11:52 PM

I just saw Curse of the Golden Flower. All I have to say is wow, Chow Yun-Fat is the coolest king/emperor I have ever seen. So cruel and cold hearted. I cannot wait and see Pirates of the Caribbean 3, because he is going to be the asian pirate king...

I watched that movie with high hope but it was a big thumb down. Huge cast with great expectation from Yimou Zhang but didn't deliver.

I think he focused too much on making it big, trying too hard for a big battle scenes, costumes and presentation. It felt like repeated scene every 20 minutes or so, uninteresting slow and quiet dialogs.....

Like Hero, it's another unique signiture from him. Only one daylight scene and ~80% are either night or dawn.

Love subtitles. A use to hate them, but I was just lazy to read them. The reason why I like them is because now I am open to movies around the world, not just limited to our movies. I love Korean cinema, man a lot of their storylines are a lot better than a lot of our movies. Now days I feel it is about graphics with a okay story line with some minor exceptions. The movies that were made in the 80's now, those are movies I can watch forever. Nothing like the original Star Wars trilogy, or true genius, back to school, etc...

Real Genius?

I saw him once at a big family reunion and confirmed with my parents who he was but I didn't care...I guess I'm related to him some how.
