Did anyone go to the ZZ top concert in Belton, TX on 03-24-06. If so did you get any pictures.

I was told that I couldn't bring in my camera after being searched. I had called before going and was told that I could bring in a camera as long as it wasn't a large professional camera or video camera. Everyone who had a purse or bag had to submit to a search and pat down in order to get in, conducted by the bell county deputies. They also placed a sign at the entrance to the building stating no weapons, large professional cameras or video cameras also stating all will be subject to a search or pat down for weapons, large professional cameras or video cameras. Nothiing was on the web sites about this. If you refused the search you couldn't go in and had to leave. Needles to say I relentlessly put my camera in my vehicle as instructed and advised them to patrol the parking lot as I was going to hold them acountable if it was stolen as i was ordered to do this by the deputy.

I had a 5d with a 50mm 1.8 lens no flash and I didn't consider this to be a large professional camera. Any size point and shoot cameras were allowed in from what I saw.

Lesson learned buy a good point and shoot to take in next time.

Got to see them at the Rodeo here in Houston on the 18th. Awesome.
Had nosebleed seats, but here's some pics:

20D and 100-400L 4.5-5.6 on most of those shots. I did a few with a 1.4 TC attached, but didn't like the results.

Those are some great pictures. Did they let you in with your cameras or did they have restrictions as well.

Houston Rodeo allows cameras in for the concert, just no Video Cameras. Heck they did not even look again once you get past the main gate into the astrodomain. I even saw people with Monopods and tripods (which I will bring next year).

Thanks. One of my objectives this year is to get MUCH BETTER color out of my shots. This was tough. They were all shot at ISO1600 so there's not much playing.

"...as I was going to hold them accountable..." That's funny. You don't really think they took you seriously, did you? Do you think they take 'advice' from everyone, or that you can assign liability to law enforcement? I'm surprised they didn't laugh in your face.

Wow.. That's almost too hard to believe. They played the Bell County Expo last week. It's really strange that I searched for reviews and news articles all throughout the web and in several counties surrounding the concert including The Belton Journal and did not find even a single printed word about the concert they had on May 13th, 2011. What's up with that?

They did take me seriously and did patrol the parking lot. I was talking about civil suit and liablity in which they assummed due to his order. Case laws exists in parking lot security and responsiblity. I could have been allowed to take the camera in and told if caught using it that I would be kicked out or filed on for trespass if I refused to leave. He did not give me that option but ordered me to take the camera to my vehicle.
