Talking Self ingratiating approbations for me--my second cover! - 03-26-2007, 05:09 PM

Just came in the mail today (excuse the craptastic scan). Also an additional 20 of my event shots inside as well.

Sure, it's just a corporate magazine, but they do a very nice job with it on fine stock. This will make a great marketing piece, and was a nice payday to boot.

I feel like the little engine that could.

Via the event they were holding on the same day. They had another shot lined up for the cover, but they didn't like it (I'd post it here for comparison, as it appeared inside the magazine, but I'm sure that would violate the orig photog's copyright).

Interesting story, the OP was a guy that was married to an acquaintance of Oprah's, so he's been hanging his hat on a shot he did of her for another magazine (don't remember which). He's getting high $ in Atlanta these days because of that one photo shoot. Just goes to show you--it's not always about how good you are.

They showed me what they had, and I told them I thought I could do better in 10 minutes. Worked out well for all of us.

I, too, have a tendency to do a little horn blowing.

But, seriously, I am glad people are sharing their successes out there in here. It encourages us to see a colleague’s wins.

Congrats!

Well, I don't feel too guilty. If I was the first on this board to do so, maybe, but...well we all know that's not the case (nor should it be).

That's a good story... My number one credo for commercial photography (anything I might get paid for) is that " You have to deliver what the customer wants !!" the hard part sometimes is actually understanding what the customer wants, expecially if they don't know what they want...

Hold on a minute,,, my psychiatrist is on the other screen..... I'll be right back
