its been a long day... - 03-29-2007, 05:27 PM

its about 5pm and me and a coworker are driving back to houston from louisiana...

I work for an enginering company and from time to time we need to travel an go offshore to various platforms and such...

today was one of those days...

woke up this morning at 1:45am

met and left the office at 3:00am

drove close to 5 hours to a heliport in louisiana. tons of fog so we didn't fly out til about 10am. the flight took about an hour, then spent about 4 hours inspecting and assessing the platform.

flew back and nows its rush hour in some little town out in the middle of nowhere and we still have about another 4+ hours to go.

so... it has indeed been a long day and its not even close to being over... hehee

We had a shorter day, but not sure my wife would want to trade. Good news is that her nerve block epidural late this afternoon proved that some bone removal is required at her L5/S1, which is included in her fusion. We are home now. Let us know if you make it ok, Abel!

Sounds like a fun day.
Today I spent most of the day at the Dermatologists office while he
sliced some tissue off my face to clear up some cancer cells found there.
Tomorrow is a day at the surgery center while the plastic surgeon makes me beautiful again........I'll trade that for a helicopter ride and a traffic jam...

I've been there too. Fog makes for an even longer day. Drive safe.

Which platform? I'm currently deep in the Gulf somewhere between Mad Dog and Atlantis. I've been out here for almost a week now, and we have about another week to go on the job. I'm on a ROV/work vessel and we're installing subsea pipeline equipment in about 4500 feet of water.

You wanna photo? Okay, how's this:

I'm standing on the back deck of our little vessel and looking at the Thialf - one of the largest crane vessels in the world. It's doing the main lifting for our installations.

I've had some spare time and a good Internet connection out here, so I've put together some photos here:

Oh yeh, back on topic - I've traveled that same stretch many times in the past. It will definitely wear you out!
