Remember, that means the sticker is good for two years :-)

Well, I got a Toyota to replace my Taurus after the 'Check Engine' light came on, and came on, and came on, and came on, and came on.....

Not a funny "trade in your car" story, but a funny "buy a car" story. When I first got out of law school, I went with my best friend to buy a new car. We were newly minted lawyers starting at big firms. She wanted a SAAB. So, we walked into the SAAB dealership and she said, "How much are the white ones?" Turns out, they had a "special" on them that day! They told her the price and she bought it! Guess she skipped that negotiation class in school. She learned real quick though....

Funny thing, I was just watching Spongebob last night, and Patrick got rid of his brand new boatmobile because the dial thingy got to "E" and it wouldn't go anymore- he thought that must mean "End".

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

Kind of like Stegall's story. I had a friend back in Mississippi in the 60's, who owned a drug store. He owned the only drug store in the whole of Marion County. He was the kind of guy that whatever he touched, turned to gold! He had a big home in Columbia, a cottage on Dauphin Island, A Super Cub, a Cessna, a Pitts Special, and a Gyro-copter. He and his wife had 6 kids, and all that were old enough to drive had new cars. But Jack always dressed as if he was going to stroll through the park...very casual.
His Wife's Cadillac was getting a few miles on it and she wanted a new one, so Jack heads off for New Orleans to pick one out for her.
He went into the Cadillac Dealers with enough cold hard cash in his pocket to buy anything in the house...But none of the Big City Fancy Suit's running around the place would even talk to this little guy in the brown slacks and knit shirt.....! Not a one of them. Nada!!

He left, went up to Jackson and bought her new car up there!

Reminds me of a story I read about the ex Houston Texans QB David Carr....

I read he went into a fancy dealership to buy a new ride wearing cargo shorts, sandals, A&F t-shirt, & ball cap.

Finally, HE was forced to ASK for help from one of salesmen who was ignoring him.

He went home with an M5.

(I think he later became a spokesperson for that dealer, so he probably got to car for free anyway!)

same thing happened to my uncle a while back when we were at a Mercedes dealership.. we were checking out cars and sitting there for at least half an hour and people looked at us and ignored us. so we decided that they don't deserve the business; he went to Lexus and bought an LX and wrote a check for the whole thing.
