Planet Earth - 04-02-2007, 03:45 PM

I just saw this show last night for the first time. I'm totally amazed and impressed with the photography and sound. Can't wait for the next showing on Sunday.

Five months tracking camels in the Gobi desert, for approximately 5 minutes of footage !!!

That's photo dedication, and envy from me.

I've been watching it, too, and it's amazing. The weirdest thing was the birds of paradise doing their dance the weekend before last. That was freaky!!! The footage looks sweet in HD on a big screen TV. I can't wait to see what's on next weekend.

For others who are interested, check the TV schedule. I believe they repeat the segments throughout the week and it starts a new batch on Sunday.

The show started last Sunday, March 24. The first 3 hour long episodes were Planet Earth Pole to Pole, Mountains, and Deep Sea. Last nights 2 episodes were Deserts and Ice Worlds.

It's been an amazing series. The Birds of Paradise was very intriguing. The first 5 hours over the past 2 Sundays has been amazing.

Next Sunday is: Shallow Seas and Great Plains
Sunday 4-15 is: Jungles and Freshwater
Sunday 4-22 is: Forests and Caves

A link to the web page with preview videos can be found at the link below. A DVD of the entire series will also be available. Very much worth viewing.

I have only caught one show - the Pole to Pole and thought it was amazing. Can't wait to see more. Now if I can only remember when they are on!

Recoding them, but have yet to see them. Just from the commercials alone I knew it would be a great series. David Attenborough does outstanding work!

I decided to wait for the HD-DVD boxed set, which ships next month. Can't wait though, the commercials looked awesome..

I will agree, it is amazing. I have a big screen that is HD capable, but do not have HD service yet. I am hoping it will repeat after i get HD service.

HD at its best. Every single scene wets a wildlife photoG especially with never seen footage where they used image stabilizer cam shooting from Helicopters. I enjoy every single one of them.. especially the Mountains series. I swear i never seen a documentary and sequence on snow leopard hunting this clear and up close. I was stunned. I wish they made more than just 11 series on planet earth.

I would trade all season of trashy 24 for 1 planet earth....LOL. Though i would ditched HD-dvd format soon but this series make me thinking otherwise. Good stuff

its totally awesome.... I watched Pole to Pole, Mountains, and Deep Sea back to back. I was stuck on the couch for 3 hours the other morning and enjoyed every minute of it. Im sure it would have been a million times better in HD, but I dont have discovery in HD at this time.

I'm going to buy the HD-DVD set...even though I don't have an HD television or HD-DVD player yet.

Whenever I do get around to getting one....it'll be worth the wait. I've seen a few episodes on my regular TV and just stare open-mouthed at the video.

From the news, 25 million dollars budget and took 5 years to complete the Planet Earth.

Quote the USATODAY
"if you've been planning to buy that HDTV anyway, you might as well buy it for Planet Earth."

Good thing it's a production of WB, available on both hd-dvd as well as BR. No format war.

last night I decided to see if I could send a comment on the Planet Earth show to the Discovery channel, and sure enough you can. I have never done this before for ANY program out there.

so I sent them my thoughts on this awesome program. I got a response this morning here here is part of what they replied back with.

"Thank you for contacting Discovery Networks. We appreciate your enthusiasm
regarding our programming. Positive feedback such as yours is very
important to us, as it assures us that our goals are being met. We will
pass your comments on to our program management and executive producers for
further review."

So if you feel up to it send them a note.
you have to go through the Viewer Relations section and fill out some junk to get to where you can type a comment.
