If you could take your camera and a small amount of necessary gear/lenses and go back in time to take images to bring back to show the world what you encountered, where would you go (general area is ok) and why?

Tough call without getting into politics and religion.

I'm wondering how the local people would react to you running around and shooting them with the camera. Freedom of the press wasn't always so well respected. Maybe it's time to go back to the dinosaurs.

In Mexico at the end of the Cretaceous to photography the Chicxulub K/T boundary impact.

The most important event of the last half a billion years.

Holy cow! I was thinking about the exact same thing, but wasn't planning on replying. I was thinking how I wouldn't be able to catch the actual impact unless the time machine had windows and was ready to go. Maybe get there like a week ahead of time just to get a good idea of some of the creatures that were about to never be seen again.

I think my choice would be the pyramids (Egyptian and the Americas) and the Sphinx.

I'd love to take pictures of the big bang...but the question is where would you be positioned to take the pictures.

I would say Pre-1943 Tibet...that is before China invaded. Dinosaurs would be cool though...tough call!

Have no idea if anything important was happening at this date but I would go back a few weeks after IBM and Apple stock went public so I could snatch up about twenty grand worth. Then I could buy what ever camera equipment I want today after I sold off some of my stock.

Oh, oh, I would go back to the days of the Civil Rights movement in a heartbeat! What a time to be a photographer!
