I have seen that. . . happened last year I think. . .poor pilot sat in there for like 4 hours. Not a happy camper as you can tell. Was an expensive error.

I wonder if he tried to eject the canopy?? if it was stuck that bad maybe they advised against it as it could have done a lot more damage.

on some aircraft if too much moisture gets in the nitrogen lines for the canopy ejection system it can cause the canopy to suddenly "eject" all by its self. We had this happen on 2 of our air craft, 1 was at 30,000 ft the other was on the ground.
the moisture gets in lines when the system is low and it needs charging and the bottle used to fill it has a bad filter and moisture transfers that way.

not sure what the f-22 uses to eject the canopy.

I wonder if someone somewhere had put together the protocol for getting a pilot out of an F-22 when the canopy was stuck.
