I touched one today

an iphone that is. a co-worker got one to test today.

no photos to share (cant do it so dont ask, non-disclosure agreement)

its light, a little thinner than a Moto RAZR, almost the same width as a RAZR and longer than a folded RAZR. it fits nice in my pocket well.

the touch screen is cool, the charging cord is to short. I will get more time with it tomorrow.

over 1 million people have already been asked to be put on some waiting list. I dont know if there is such a thing.

the price seems a bit high....

4GB model = $499 w 2yr contract
8GB model = $599 w 2yr contract

can you imagine what the price without contract is?

try dropping almost $1000 on a phone. (that could be a nice lens or all kinds of photo gear)

keep the ipod..you already have a nice camera...and a cell phone that makes calls and text messages......till the price drops, and the bugs are worked out.

I look at it this way...

My ipod is the 2nd gen 20GB model (b&w, pre-click wheel)
My Razor is two years old.

I'm going to buy one not because it's cheap, but because I want it.

As someone that sells cellphones for my day job, I'd recommend waiting atleast a few months after it comes out on the market. Let someone else find the bugs and be the guinea pig. They revamped the Razor twice in 6 months for it's kinks when it first came out.

I remember the day when the first little flip phone came out. The analog Motorola Startac. One of my customers paid $1200 for this phone, and all it did back then was place calls. Thats was only 8 years ago. My how things have changed so much in such a short time.

I had a Startac...it was my first real cell phone in college 8 years ago.

One thing it did that I've never found since...never dropped a freaking call.

So right now I travel with a Palm for addresses and phone numbers, a 20gig iPod for music, and a cell phone. Not to mention if I've got my Powerbook and camera stuff, I have a bag just to carry all the battery recharger devices and cables. Will the iPhone replace all of the first 3 items I mentioned?
